What’s up? Max here 🥹
This is the first installment of my monthly newsletter 😊 Surely it will get better as I become a better writer and get in the habit of writing it… so please bear with me for this first one 😇 Let’s keep it short and sweet.
My plan is to be consistent with it!
General growth 📉
I’m not gonna lie, growth - from Twitter to business, has slowed down drastically since Birdy got “shut down”. I attribute this to two reasons.
First, this is totally normal as people are mostly interested in following people that are crushing it… and right now I’m not 😅 This is just a bump in the road though, and I’m sure it will pick back up as I get traction with one of my future businesses.
Secondly, I’m not that focused on indie-making right now. Obviously, I build every single day, but right now it’s beautiful in summer Montreal and I’m partying a lot haha. I go out downtown, to clubs, bars, and restaurants and hang out with friends a lot. I can’t expect to get massive results without putting in a massive effort. I really want to enjoy this summer!
But there’s no way I’m not putting 1.5h of work every. single. day. No matter what. Self-discipline baby.
Validating Splitzy 😅
This is how Splitzy looked at the beginning of the month as I was launching the MVP 😅
I love to put out a horrible-looking MVPs. Birdy started with a horrible design as well.
Just 🚢 it ™️
You can see the improvement I did during the month by visiting the website: splitzy.io.
Honestly, so far Splitzy is a failure. 17 people created an account, but none subscribed. I will persist a bit during the summer and see where this project leads me. Multiple people have expressed their interest in subscribing to the product, but none of them has taken out their credit card and paid 😆 There is no validation without customers.
So I might have to pivot. Maybe the indie hacker a/b testing niche isn’t a good fit. I think I would have some customers if Splitzy had a fancy editor to create your A/B versions without code. Perhaps creating a no-code tool should be my pivot. Not sure if I’m interested in building this though. We’ll see.
If you want a good lol, take a look at the “hate” I got from the initial Splitzy logo I created with Midjourney 😂 I really thought it was nice… I apparently have 0 sense of design. Shoutout to Damien Terwagne for creating my current logo 😇
Twitter browser extension 👀
Yes… another Twitter product 😂 I can’t seem to get rid of the impulse to create Twitter-related apps and improve the Twitter experience. I’m just a die-hard fan of Twitter at the end of the day.
This might be my next project… who knows.
Right now the extension is simply hiding all possible indications of a notification on the website 😁 I wanted something that removed all possible distractions… and here it is!
I plan on improving it in June 💪
Other cool things I did
Went on the Code & Conquer - The Indie Hacker Podcast (my second podcast appearance ever)
Revamped my personal website into a custom Linktree-ish website
That’s all for now!
Thanks for reading 😇 See you next month 🙏
May 2023: Validating Splitzy + Twitter browser extension 👀
i believe "crushing it" isn't about MRR. Simply working consistently towards a goal is what i call crushing it. I can see no future without you succeeding hard. Keep pushing king 👑
